Meet Doko-Miles Thorburn

Meet Doko-Miles Thorburn, Lead Computational Biologist at Resurrect Bio.

Miles joined us as our first computational biology hire and has played a key role in developing the capabilities that support our disease-resistance trait discovery platform.

His work helps us make sense of the enormous number of potential interactions between crop immune receptors and pathogen proteins. By narrowing this search space and identifying the most promising candidates, computational biology helps our wet-lab team investigate resistance mechanisms more quickly and precisely. 🔎

But no two days look quite the same. 🔄

Alongside analysing genomic data and developing new computational approaches, Miles has worked across wet-lab automation, screening workflows and internal tools designed to help the team work more efficiently.

With a PhD in evolutionary genomics and previous experience in malaria vector control biotechnology, Miles brings a perspective shaped by research across different biological systems. 🌱

We spoke to Miles about his background, what brought him to Resurrect Bio and why computational approaches are becoming increasingly important for the future of crop resilience.
